About me

I am associate professor (universitair hoofddocent) in psychometrics and statistics at the Heymans Institute for Psychological Research of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences of the University of Groningen.

I've attained MSc (1998) and PhD (2003) degrees in mathematical statistics at the University of Groningen and was PostDoctoral Research Fellow at the Groningen Bioinformatics Centre and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of The Open University.

I am elected member of the International Statistical Institute, treasurer of the International Association of Statistical Computing (IASC), board member of the Social Sciences section of the Dutch Statistical Society (VVS-OR) and elected member of the University Council.

Research

Research Interests

My main research interests concerns (1) statistical modelling of psychological processes, with applications in clinical psychology and environmental psychology; (2) the interplay between statistics and science communication. Full details can be found here.

Teaching

Over the years, I have taught and constructed a wide range of courses.
